Biodiversity Conservation

Inefficient monitoring and evaluation of protected areas, lack of data on marine, freshwater and terrestrial species and increasing pressures threatening all types of habitats, signify that biodiversity conservation and monitoring schemes employed on the island, need to be enhanced.

Cyprus Environment Foundation will support organisations and projects that aim to monitor, restore and conserve local biodiversity whether by conducting field work on data-deficient indigenous species, promoting more sustainable fishing practices, identifying and establishing a new Marine Protected Area (MPA), engaging the general public in environmental conservation efforts, restoring a degraded habitat of a threatened species and any other project that falls into the biodiversity conservation efforts.
